A Guide to Registration
by Kay Imig, Chief Registrar

To ease the frustration factor that some individuals experience when going through Registration, the friendly Registration staff would like to present to you a handy dandy reference guide of all the required documents and forms that you need to bring with you to an event. Please feel free to keep this checklist handy so that you can refer to it while packing so that nothing will be missed. Please note that not all credentials are required for everyone.

Credentials Checklist

Current SCCA Membership Card
(required for all drivers, workers and crew members at SCCA sanctioned events).

The National Office sends you two cards when you renew your membership. The card with you name, address, member number and expiration date is your membership card. The other card is the license portion. Your membership date must be valid at the time you register at an event. If the event falls over a month end, your membership card does not have to be valid through the date at the end of the event; it only needs to be valid when you go through Registration. (This is new this year).

Photo ID
This is a valid SCCA photo ID that can be purchased at most events. Please note that this photo ID does not need to be on the back of your current SCCA membership card. In fact, if it is a separate photo ID it will never expire, unlike your membership card that expires every year forcing you to get a new photo ID every year.

Vehicle Log Book
This is required by the Tech people in order to have your vehicle checked by Tech for the weekend.

Current Worker License
Your "license" card may contain only asterisks or the words "NONE APPLIED FOR". This is bad! (But can be taken care of at the track if necessary by filling out a regional license form). This occurs because the National office sends out a new membership card as soon as your membership renewal is processed. Your divisional or national specialty license renewals will not be processed until your membership renewal is validated. If you sent in your license renewals, you should receive another complete set of cards indicating your licenses.
Minor Waivers
This can be either a HOT PINK minor photo (we can sell you one in Registration at the track for $3.00 if both guardians are there to fill out a new waiver form) or a pink copy of the Minor Waiver form with the event line stating "ALL" events. You can also fill out a waiver at the event, but if you are the only parent/guardian there, that waiver will be good for that event only.

Drivers School Waiver
If you would like a drivers school waived, you as a driver must submit to the Chief Steward of the event, in writing, a letter stating your experience (with supporting documentation) and why you feel the school should be waived. This will be collected with your Novice permit and turned over to the Chief Steward.

Current Competition License
(required for those of you that are going to compete at the event)

This can be in the following forms: (1) the license portion of your membership card indicating a regional or national competition license, (2) A Dual or Pro hard card (you still need a valid membership card), (3) A valid Novice permit showing that the expiration date is beyond the date of the event. (4) A current yellow probation letter. It is the driver's responsibility to give any probation letter to the Chief Steward of the event and to get the probation letter back from the Chief Steward at the end of the event. If the license portion of your cards is full or asterisks and/or says "NONE APPLIED FOR", you are in big trouble. This means you have no license. You cannot get one at the track. You will be pretty much SOL (out of luck) unless the chief steward is willing to accept an affidavit (with $100, $75 of which is refundable once your license is verified).

Guests and Crew Members
Drivers, if someone is not on your crew/guest list you will be asked to return to Registration to add their name. If you are a worker, your guest will not be allowed to come in if their name is not on the list. We in Registration try our hardest to accommodate those poor individuals that show up at the track and do not have their names on anyone's list. This is, however, an uncomfortable situation we would rather avoid so PLEASE make sure your guest/crew is listed. We dislike turning people away that have driven hours to see a friend or family member. Also please advise your guest that they are not allowed to bring a guest. This is not a real problem for a spectator event. The guest's guest will be asked to pay an admission fee. But in the situation of a closed event this again becomes a difficult situation.

Other Handy Tips and Hints

Please be sure to tell your Crew and Guests the Registration hours.Remember that some Crew/Guests may need to pay an entrance fee to get in. It may be nice to tell them this in advance. We have heard some pretty sad and unbelievable tales about being unable to eat because they had to pay an entrance fee.

Drivers: Be sure that the entry form is filled out completely. This will save you time in line at Registration since you will be required to complete all missing information before you are admitted. Remember to enclose a check, money order, cashiers check and credit card information with your entry. We do not have a legitimate entry until we have payment for the entry. This means that if you have a national number it does not have to be reserved for you since we do not have a legitimate entry.
