    Dear Drivers,
Congratulations on an exciting race at Road America this past Sunday.
The races for both the Vees and the F500 were almost as exciting to
watch as I am sure they were to drive.

Please accept my apologies for publishing inaccurate fast lap times for
the race. I have enclosed copies of the revised results which show
    changed "fast lap" times for the following cars: 4, 5, 16, 21, 23, 37,
39, 41, 57 and 03. There have been no changes to overall finish
position or number of laps completed. We never had any doubt in the
published finish order or the lap chart.

One driver who's name I do not remember came up to discuss the times
during the afternoon, and accepted the explanation that Timing &
Scoring did the best with what we had at the time. Bruce Livermore,
driver of #37 and new track record holder came to T&S following the
Group 8 race and voiced strong doubts as to the accuracy of he himself
driving a 2:41.866 when the existing record was 2:42.642. After
    reviewing the timing information across laps 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 I
found some inaccuracies. Our electronic lights recorded many fewer
split times than cars in a very short period of time. Here is a
    summary.
Lap Number of cars Number of Splits Elapsed time
           8 9 5 1.557 sec
           9 10 4 2.391 sec
          10 6 4 0.636 sec
          11 6 2 0.288 sec
          12 5 3 0.218 sec
This is a time when individual watch timers for individual cars, or a
video camera, would have been a BIG help. When I rechecked the written
car numbers, I realized the wrong set of cars had been assigned to the
limited splits across lasp 8 - 10. The accumulated differences in time
associated with the above cars in these laps accounted for the
    inaccurate fast lap times published.

Note that the times for the top F500 drivers are accurate, with 3
drivers breaking the existing track record. These have been triple
checked and re-verified to be accurate, as they were during the 30
    minute protest period on Sunday.

If there are further questions, please contact me at the address above,
or via e-mail at Anne.M.Kumor@jci.com. I extend thanks to Bruce
Livermore for encouraging me to spend the additional time to ensure an
accurate, attainable track record for the Formula Vees.
